Square Society's "Black & White Bals Masqués"
Corinthian Ballroom • Downtown Roanoke • Map
Saturday January 19th, 2008 • 8pm until midnight
This fabulous masquerade ball was created from plans to celebrate the Square Society’s 10th Anniversary. It is a revival of the organization’s own Black & White Ball from the late 1990s, coupled with the glamour and intrigue of Truman Capote’s Black & White Ball in 1966.
The dress is black and/or white cocktail attire, black tie optional, mask required. Amrhein’s and Dance Etc. in Vinton will sell attire and masks for the ball
Entertainment during the event will be provided by Pop Rivets and the Cyrus Pace Trio
Platinum sponsors include Florabella, Bud Light, K-92, City Magazine, Springtree Health and Rehab and Packaging Corporation of America
Tickets cost $45 per person.
Visit one of these official headquarters to buy tickets:
Amrhein's or Dance Etc. Or buy tickets online below and receive them in the mail. Tickets purchased online after Tuesday, January 15th will be held at will-call.
Ticket outlets close at 5:00 PM Saturday.
Online sales close at noon on Friday.
Masks are required and available at Dance Etc. in Vinton and Amrhein's. Amrhein's also has long and short dresses, and tuxes for sale or rent. Attire is "black tie optional," so black suits are fine for those guys who don't want to go all out in a tux. Short cocktail attire is fine for ladies as well as decked-out gowns.
"This will once again become downtown's most talked about fundraiser."
-Michael Guntlow, Square Society President
This event is receiving heavy media exposure and is expected to sell out.
If you plan to attend do not delay purchasing your tickets.

Mill Mountain Theatre Party
Wednesday October 18
Don't Dress for Dinner, a comic farce for adults and older teens,

the cast follows afterwards at Metro around 9:45pm. Appetizers. Cash bar.
The Square Society has a block of reservered seats at a discount price
of $24 per person. To order your tickets call the box office at 540-342-5740

Don't Dress for Dinner was a smash hit in Paris,
where it played for over two years, and in London, where critical
acclaim greeted the Apollo Theatre production. Bernard is planning
a weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in a French farmhouse.
He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights,
is packing his wife, Jacqueline, off to her mother's, and has even
invited his best friend, Robert, to provide the alibi. It's foolproof;
what could possibly go wrong? Suppose Robert turns up not knowing why
he has been invited? Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers?
What happens if the cook is mistaken for the mistress and the mistress
is unable to cook? An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard
and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.
